QUOTE
About dual HDDs, at the Nividia SLI guide, they recomend two HDDs, why would they recomend two hdds? what advantage would that have for the videocard?

The reason is the cards need a place for the swap-file for games (where textures and such are temporarily cached). The reason they recommend two is because it wouldn't be efficient for your OS, game (especially ones like Doom 3), and the swap-file all running on one single hdd. Hope that helps.

QUOTE
I havent really read up on them, but I thought amd's opteron was like intel's celeron (basically junk for games). If this is the case, why would anyone want dual opteron processors?

Actually that was the Duron, which is a lot older(and discontinued if I'm not mistaken). It has now been replaced with the Sempron, which is the competitor of the Celeron D. Opteron is new with 64-bit architechture, but right now its pretty similar to the AMD 64. I feel bad about buying an FX-55 now, these new Opteron's are coming out and are probably gonna kick its ass.

lmk29o, the difference between those 2 sets of memory are their timings.  The Kingston HyperX has faster timings than the other stuff you have there.  Faster timings = better FPS in games because the memory can be stored and reused faster.

Until recently, the Xenon's were used mostly for servers.

psu looks good i paid to about the same for mine (600watts but no go for sli) so the trade off isnt bad at all

if you can buy the more expensive ram its better i would recomend a 36 gb for games and put all of your other programs on another hd and you dont need a guide or tut for daul hds like i said you just plug them in and set everything when you setup the comuter in the bios

if your really a hardcore gamer then get a 74 gig drive but i dont think you should put all of your programs on the raptor just the ones that get used the most

AGAIN YOU DO NOT NEED A GUIDE FOR DUAL HD'S YOU PLUG THEM IN AND SET EVERYTHING IN THE BIOS YOUR MOBO MANUAL WILL TELL YOU WHAT EVERYTHING DOES YOU DO NOT NEED A GUIDE THEY WILL BE RECOGNIZED BY THE MOBO YOU DONT NEED A GUIDE

i read the article aboutf BTX mobos, i couldn't tell they had any advantages besides thier size and cooling...
I think thats pretty much going to be my setup, do you think it would be hard to switch programs over, if i just bought a 100GB SATA HDD, and then waited on the raptor? My total is actually $1600 minus audio, and that doesn't include Windows XP....

and no you wouldn't have a problem dual hds is not a big deal

and that is what they are basically for, cooling

wrong link bro and when it says must be purchased with hardware that means you have to buy it with some hardware (usually to get a disscount)

and really i would just get the windows 64bit 1 year trial then when win 64bit comes out buy it
