My moms computer has a destructive A:\ drive problem.  All of a sudden, now when you put a floppy in it, you hear a sweeping noise and it says that the drive can't read the disk.  Then when you try it on other computers, the disk is no good period.  Needless to say this sucks.  What should I do?

Cheap easy solution, replace the floppy drive. THey often run about $5 to $20. If yours has a strange face you may need to remove the front faceplate from the floppy drive to make it fit correctly.

YOu can try opening the drive and cleaning it with compressed air and rubbing alchol, but you may further damage the broken drive or only temprarly fix it.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention my mom has win98 so usb flash drives wont work.  I already tried it.  And it's no use upgrading to xp because my mom's hdd is only 3 gigs, and I ain't got the money to buy a bigger one.

USB flash drives do work with windows 98, you just need the relevant driver for the USB drive.

well if one didnt come with it.... go to the manufacturer's website... they should have drivers to download... and if they dont... use google.  If it is a brand name product... there should definitely be drivers on the net.
