I've got an xbox in for repair. The guy gave me the box because he said the dvd rom wouldn't open. Well, I plugged it up for power, hit eject, worked fine. Opened and closed it about 15 times, gave it back to the guy and told him nothing was wrong with it. He called me a couple hours later and said it was not fixed, so I got the box back, tried to open the tray and it would not do anything. I tried just powering it on, then opening the drive, still nothing. I let the box set overnight and then tried again with the eject button. Works fine. I tried to power it up with the power button and then eject, and it doesn't do anything. After letting the xbox warm up I try to eject the dvd rom and it will not open.
Does anyone know how or why this would happen, and also how to fix it? I'm going to try swapping the power/eject board and see if that works. If not I'm stumped really. I don't think swapping the board will fix it, but I want to try it anyway. I personally think the dvd rom is the problem. When I hit the button to eject, the dvd rom makes a noise similar to when you open a pc dvd rom, kinda like a spin down sequence, only the drive never pops open.
