well i tried going to a FSB of 225, but for some reason it said no hdd was detected and it wouldnt boot windows, so i had to scale it back down again

any ideas on why bumping the fsb by 5 more would cuase my sata hdd to not be detected?

right now i have the ddr voltage on 2.7 and the vcore is on auto (its hovering around 1.694)

by bumping any of those up, would that help to get a higher OC rate, or can i not go any higher because of the hdd thing?

It is hard to say why the HD thing happened. But I think the change in the FSB is causing the IDE bus to operate over spec and that is your problem. I don't know how to solve a problem like that since I am not an extreme OCer.

Sisoftware makes a program called Sandra that can do most of your stress testing. But I bet there are more out there if you look.

The next step I would suggest is to start asking your questions on an OCing forum. The only one that I have posted on is http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/. They are a bunch of cool guys that will be glad to help you. Those guys make me look like a freakin idiot when it comes to OCing.

it dont matter what core you have the athlon 64's are NOT overclocking friendly, and it goes beyind the agp/pci locking issue.

look into your bios,  is there a part in there , probably same page that have voltages and fsb and memory mhz,  it might say

AGP/PCI - 66.6/33.3

that is the megahertz of your agp and pci bus, any fluctuation of a few mhz usually makes a motherboard lock,

most of the non oem overclocking friendly motherboard have that lock or the option to lock or unlock it.  il take a look and see if that mobo has that option.

but perosnally i would get rid of that mobo and grab an msi neo2 fsr   once again msi proves their are the top rated mobo maker out there, for pent 4 amd and amd 64 processors.
no it aint that piece of crap company asus. screw them and their nonbooting motheboards. dieing pieces of crap.

also be aware that PC3200 does NOT operate properly unless the voltage is set to 2.7 volts. this is a known thing with PC3200 aka DDR400.
most motherboard need to be set to 2.7 for it to operate properly. im not sure what your motherboard sets the voltage to by defualt but if its not 2.7 volts. turn it up.

dont waste your money of corsair or crucial memory  that kingston ddr is good enough.

faster cas timings isnt going to increase your performance all that much. infact you wont even know it.
not to mention your going to be spending quite a bit of money on crucial ddr.

im not seeing anything about a agp/pci lock in that mobo bios.

another reason why asus sucks big balls.

your basically screwed dude. that mobo/cpu is not going to overclock more than a few hundred mhz before it locks.

the athlon 64's as everyone knows, and i stated are NOT overclocking friendly. and dont react well to it.

Yea I think he got a bad motherboard from them and has no idea that every motherboard maker makes defective boards from time to time. ThatÂ’s why they have a RMA system.

Fan boys like this are funny because they believe what they think is the truth when in fact they come off as a complete moron.

Example:

"im not seeing anything about a agp/pci lock in that mobo bios.

It is common knowledge that none of the earlier Athlon 64 motherboards had a working AGP/PCI lock, that includes Asus and your precious MSI. So under your logic MSI "sucks big balls" because their early K8 motherboards did not have a AGP/PCI lock either.
