My new home PC, not this crappy one I'm on at work...

AMD Athlon64 3000+ 2.2Ghz ($175 @ Newegg!)
Asus K8N-E Deluxe
(2) King Hyper-X PC4000 (500Mhz) 512Mb for 1Gb
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro w/ Zalman 80HC Silent HS
(2) WD Raptor 36.7Gb HDDs in Raid 1 with Windows XP 64bit Edition Beta
(2) WD 250Gb SATA HDDs for storage
Lite-On 16x DVD-Rom
Lite-On 832S 8x DVD-RW
Antec NeoPower 480W P/S (This is the best power supply out there! You will be STUNNED!)
CoolerMaster Centurion 5 CAC-T05 Case (It's sweet)

For the future...

ATI Radeon X800 XT Platinum (as soon as I get paid this week woohoo!)
MCX6000 HS for Processor (still kinda warm, need this sucker)
1 more stick of ram (it's not overkill ok..)

umm, quick comment, the 3000 is only 2.0GHZ, as the only way to get a 2.2GHZ is to get a 3200 with clawhammer, or a regular 3400

and, theres a beta 64 bit windows?

how does it run?

Runs pretty good. You can't upgrade it from WinXp Pro though. IT has to be fresh install which blew ass.

Oh and Mine is sitting at 220 FSB with a 10x multiplier since it's locked.

I can't seem to get it stable over 220 right now. Once I get the Swiffy HS I'll try again. Right now stock colling is having some trouble. It's sitting at 39C Idle and 44C under load.

Who needs to pay 230 for a 3200 when they can pay 175 and get a 3000 that runs just as fast.

EDIT: Oh I forgot to mention. Go to google and type in windows 64 edition and you'll find a link to M$ site with it. You can download it if you register your email and all that. It's like 450 megs.

You'll get an .iso of it to make a disc and your own personal product key will be emailed to you. It's only good for 1 year from activation though. But by then the final 64bit will be out.

i got my 3200 for 190

the big thing though is if you get a clawhammer 3200, you get twice as much L2 cache

and 44 load is very good for an overclocked processor

I havent had a single problem with it yet. It's basically windows xp pro.

As far as how it runs. It's slightly faster. It takes advantage of the 64bit instructions within the operating system but all of the programs are still 32bit so until the final version is out and more programs are 64bit compatible, i doubt it'll be really that much better than xp pro.

I think it's a little faster though.

EDIT: Just read the other post. 44 load isnt good enough for me cuz it raises my ambient system temp i.e. motherboard to 38C. I'm not thrilled about that. With it at stock speeds and at load my motherboard sat at 32C That's good for me.

That's a good deal for a 3200+ where/when did you get it?

Also, if you read the performance reviews, i.e. the real world comparisons. The bigger cache does very little for performance. It's almost un noticable. That's why I opted for the 3000+

It performs on par with the 3200+ when clocked to 2.2 and it's pretty damn close with stock speeds. Now I wanna get this sucker clocked higher.

so, what would you advise

should i sell off my windows xp pro for the time being, and use this 1 yr free version, as there identical?

or should i wait?

im just afraid the beta will be very buggy and give lots of errors  ph34r.gif

Hmm...

I just got mine on the 28th. I musta been lucky.

Oh and not to knock ya but:

1. Don't buy from Monarch. Stick with Newegg. Best advice I can give ya.

2. NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER buy a refurb processor. The extra 20-30 for a retail boxed CPU could save you hundreds later on if it fails. Gotta love those retail box 3 yr warranties.

But I can see that you did get a deal, so if it works out then you lucked out.

whats wrong with monarch?

and mine wasnt really refurbed, just a white box, non retail one that i got extra 3 yr warranty with (for only 5 bucks)

good thing i just got my vid card from newegg

I've been around the block a few times when it comes to ordering online. Myself and my best friend have both ordered from Monarch.

They were on 4 different occasions. 3 from him and 1 from me.

My friend got a AthlonXP 2700 and a motherboard. Both were DOA. The replacements worked fine, CPU died about 1 month later sent it back RMA and guess what, told him it wasnt under warranty but he ordered a retail box unit. While the replacements were en route from the first DOA he made another order for a stick of ram. Worked for about 5 days and started giving him memory dump/allocation errors.

In the meantime. I didnt even know he ordered something from them and I placed an order for a 350 PSU. DOA. Ouch. RMA and got a new one. Worked fine but it took a while to get a replacement.

Once I got my PSU a few days later my friend calls me to have me build him a computer because he was getting screwed by some online store. I asked him which one and low and behold it was Monarch.

My conclusion is that they must sell B-stock products and pass them off as retail A-stock. No way someone can send out that many DOAs.

Stick with Newegg. They are awesome.

Sorry for rambling but you did ask...

yea, the only things i ordered were a the mobo (Asus K8v SE Deluxe, in retail box, never opened, with 3 yr asus warranty)

and the processor with 3 yr amd warranty

Yeah this happened a while ago back when the 2700+ was the biggest and baddest.

It was the last time I ordered from them. Same with my friend.

yea, but theyve been good to me before, thats where my bro peiced together his laptop

i think theyve cleaned up there act, ive seen alot of stores turn around in the last year

also, what did you use to overclock your CPU clock speeds?  the mobo?

should i just leave it at 10x multiplier and then bump to like 230 or 240?
