Need Help Resurrecting Hdd For V1.6 With Xboxhdm
« on: April 17, 2007, 10:30:00 PM »

Long story short, my friend's little brother did some borked soft-mod attempt on their xbox.  They used something titled "Krayzie_SC-NTSC_Ndure_Installer_v1.1"  Whatever it did, they were left with an evox dash that had two menu options; Launch Disc, and Settings.. no M$dash, no nothing else.  I managed to ftp to it and get the eeprom backed up, so I have the HD unlock code and everything.

A while back, I soft-modded my own Xbox with the ltools 007AUF installer, and then a year ago I upgraded my hard drive to a 200gb one using Xbox HD Maker.  The process was very simple and quick, and I understand the concept of what I needed to do... give XBHDM the contents of my stock HD's C and E partitions, and the eeprom file, and it does the rest.  THe ltools installer leaves you with the ability to totally uninstall the soft-mod, to bring the machine back to stock (which I did with the original hard drive, as a failsafe)

Unfortunately, because my friend's HD didn't have the stock C and E partitions, I couldn't do this.  XBHDM was still setup for my own hard drive, so all I did was swap my eeprom file with his, figuring I could leave my own C and E folders, and the machine would just have all the crap that mine had.

Yeah, that didn't work.

So now I'm at a loss as to what to do.  I've started doing some reading, but haven't come up with anything really beneficial yet.  I remember when I was doing the ltools installer on MY xbox, it gave me the option  for a couple different bioses to install, and if I remembered correctly, there was some significance of one over the other if you were doing it on a 1.6 xbox... I'm wondering if maybe I need a different bios for my friend's box?  But I wouldn't know where to look or what to look for.  Is t here something else that might be causing the problem?  The machine doesn't load at all, I get the normal xbox splash, and then it just goes to the garbage, whether a game is inserted or not.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance....

looks like you used PBL with a old bios that is not compatible with a 1.6
it still should cold boot SC to gain FTP access
slayers 2.6-2.7 has all the stock files needed (system\all\c)
look at kingroach's NDURE installer for PC
or return it to stock and use a gamesave

No, unfortunately it doesn't boot properly at all (I don't know what "SC" means) but anything I do when I power the machine on will give that garbled screen I posted.

If slayers has all the stock files needed, could I just drag the C folder/directory from that to XBHDM and build a drive from scratch?  it IS a 1.6, it's got the Xcalibur chip in there...
At this point, I'd like to try and get it back to stock.  I just haven't had time to work on it because I've got other actual work projects to get done.  To save me some time looking, are all these things available at the "usual places"?  That way I'll at least know I don't have to scour the internet when I get the time to sit down with it again.
