Redhat 9 Installed, Windows Wont Boot

There are some utilities that let you remake a bootloader, if it's corrupt.  Can't remember any, but look for them.  If that doesn't work, boot with XP bootable discs, and reinstall XP.  It should remake the bootloader, but will probably not include linux support.

Edit: Before doing that, do some research here

The above methods might not work, because the problem seems to come from partitionmagic

Not true the problem he has a well documented problem with the 2.6 kernel in certain configurations.

Secondly bootloaders look for the OS not the other way around, therefore it has nothing to do with Windows looking for PM.

COuld have booted off the Windows CD, gone to the "Recovery Console" and done ran "fixmbr" and "fixboot".  Would have put the Windows bootloader back onto the MBR.  If you're just starting to play with Linux, try getting VMware and running LInux in that for a while.  It will be more convinient as well (for learning).

same damn thing happened to me. what probably happended is that partition magic turns the new partition for linux active instead of the windows. this makes the computer think windows isn't there. when you make a partiton juat resise you windows partition to have empty space and then let linux auto partition the free space
