boot in safe mode (F8 just before the windows logo appears on startup)

this should give you the option of logging on using the default administrator account, then you can delete the password for your normal account

how do you delete it?  Does it just let you do it no questions asked?  Thisis useful in this situation but does anyone else see a problem with it

So, this can't be used unless someone knows the default admin password., which is created during installation

Most people don't specify an admin password when installing XP..

Or if they do, they should tape it to the inside of the case, so they know what it is when they need it at a later date.
