XIR v2 USB Programmer

GreenGiant informed us about the release of an USB Programmer for the XIR v2, a mod to turn ON/OFF your Xbox1, en/disable LPC mochips and more with a remote controller:
Quote

After several months of hard work, and many requests by loyal customers, we are happy to release the USB version of the XIR Programming Cable.

Installation takes 2 steps, get the drivers and run the installation.
Using it is even simpler, connect it to the XIR V2's Programming Port, then connect programmer to the USB Port on your pc and your set.
No more slaving away with a serial port.

Looks like a serial emulator, ala the DLP-TxRx used by the anonymous hacker at 23c3.

Got an X3 (from one of the first batches) in my xbox, and when I read the specs on X3IR and the better switch board I got the impression the would only be fully functional with X3CE... so I skipped the confusion with CE and the "pro" switch / IR, but got me a XIRC2 recently instead.

Texbook, pretty much is that. The only difference between the hacker one is that this one doesnt require external crystal, but is not software baud (has an internal resonator.
Why overcomplicate the design right.

So this only works with the DVD kit for the xbox?

Or could i somehow program it to my Wireless logitech controller and it mimics the xbox 360 with being able to turn it on?

I think the Xerc is a lot better myself, it has the extra features of ejecting and closing the tray, plus smartx modchip users can make use of another feature to boot to thier bios screen. Also there is no need to use a programmer with a xerc because the remote controller can be used to program particular buttons for user prefrence. Also with the more advanced xercs you are able to connect leds for a light show or to flash with the beat of the music. At least you can either make both of these infrared devices or purchase them.

So, this device is used to completely turn off the modchip temporarily so you can get on xbox live?

I dont think so... but moreso to turn the Xbox on (with modchip on/off) without having to get up.

I just installed the XIR1.0 with the DVDkit and my Kameleon universal remote.... i no longer have to get up. You just made me gain 10 more lbs designer!  Thanks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
