It's times like this I aprreciate my Intel 2.4C @ 3.6ghz on the STOCK fan. lol  Dont get me wrong, I love AMD, and after using both, i can definately sasy that AMD's AREN'T crap, and Intel's AREN'T overprices pieces of shit that are weak.  AMD has a better lower price line, but for the people with higher budgets (or at least this is how it used to be) Intel is very competitive, and I don think its fair to compar the $700 A64 to a $170 Intel Pentium 4  mmmkay?

nicely said, but when 64bit processors are more manufactured then we'd probably see a price drop on the A64's......

64 bit processors arent really worth getting at the moment untill software is avaidable to use at 64 bit. and when 64 bit windows comes along what will the old 32bit programs run like on that. ill stick with a 32bit chip till 64 becomes the norm

I prefer AMD because they still perform better than an Intel. This isn't about clock speed, it's about performance and their great at it.

An AMD 2400+ will perform better than a P4 2.4GHz. I think when HT is used it might be faster, but for all the people I know who have an Intel just can't run games without some sort of lag and AMD processors seem to perform better.

An AMD is also much cheaper so it's better value for money.

It's good AMD exists. Imagine a P4 1GHz @ £400

No, actually, not with the 800FSB pentiums.  In fact, an 800mhz FSB 2.4ghz whups the ass of an AXP 2400+.  That was true however with the 533mhz FSB P4's

I got my case in and my motherboard. biggrin.gif
Bad thing is, I have to repair the case cause the plexiglass is cracked and its scratched. Not too big of a deal, but I was pretty mad. Another thing is, the motherboard. On the board where the cpu goes,  it says Socket 462 but in the manual it says its Socket A. What should I go with?

They are the same, I believe, but do a search to make sure.  And don't fall for the clock speed myth.  It is how much you can do in each cycle.

Seagate, Maxtor or WD. Stay away from Samsung.

Hitachi 7200rpm sata has higher ratings in sum tests than the WD Raptor, it also maintains a nice 26dB and cool temperatures

Here is the link, comes in 80, 160 and 250gb.
