Alright my friend has this icon on his desktop that jusst started popping up and it has a ~ as the logo. Is this a virus?

Also my other friend was trying to open up his task manager and a second later it closes itself. This also happens when he is in reg edit and msconfig and its pissing me off when i was trying to fix it. Even happens in Safe Mode.
Some viruses he has found on the pc are called

New IRC.b
IRC/Flood.bq
IRC/Flood.ak.plugin

Hes runnin windows xp.

Well the ~ file I wouldn't worry about. I have seen that file appear from using Outlook Express on some XP computers.

As to the virus, hit over to http://housecall.trendmicro.com . You can do a free scan of the computer and the results linked to trends virual database where there are removal instructions.

That or seal all the cracks in the case so the flood doent leak all over your floor j/k =^.^=

Also is he using Invision 2.0 for IRC, because it will pop up sometimes that flood virus, even though it is not an actual virus, but a script to prevent flooding...

Oh good question he has kids maybe they go onto his computer.

But whats up with his shit about oening up task amanger and it closes it out by itself.
