well than that board listed above will accomplish all you want, but allow these other guys to throw in recommendations as well

and also if you are gunna be playin newer games i suggest u buy at least a Geforce FX 5600 Ultra, or a Radeon 9600 Pro(or 9500 pro if u can find one), although you will be very impressed with the performance of a Radeon 9800 Pro or XT

i think the board you showed me has dual channel ram. this is the specs RAM: 2x DIMM for DDR400/333/266(Un-buffered,Non-ECC what does un-buffered mean

no, the 2x means there are 2 slots for ram, dual channel interfaces two sticks of ram as if they were 1, or somethng along those lines, in the end it makes the ram perform better

i cannot recall what un buffered means exactly, but ecc is for error checking and correction, mostly used for server system

ram is labeled by two different method when ti comes to speed

the 400 mhz is one number that may be used to describe the speed, but pc 3200 is the same thing, just a different way to descrieb it

333 == 2700

266 == 2100

i dont have one myself(i got a good deal on a radeon 9800 pro 128), but u may as well try checkin ebay

i wouldnt pay more than 200 bux for one tho, cause then you could buy a radeon 9600 xt, which is pretty much a close equivalent

sata is a faster interface, normally what is used is IDE 133

ide 133 transfers at 133 MB/s while sata 150 transfers at 150 MB/s

and i forget what raid stands for but it can be used for several different ways

the one you will prolly ever want to use if RAID 0, which will take any drives on the raid array and make them appear as oen drive(referring to hard drives)

there are two other big array types

RAID 1 reserves half of the total hard drive space to make an exact mirror of the other half

and lastly is RAID 5, which i wouldnt suggest u use unless u got at least 6 har ddrives

RAID 5 will spread out backup data across all the drives, which is considered the most secure way to protect the data

most built in raid drivers onyl support 0, 1 or 0+1, so ignore the 5

(and yes i know there are more types, but they arent worth mentioning)

can you really notice a difference in just 17 mb a second. so if i get a hdd that has a ide 66 like the xbox then do i just unplug that one and put the 133 one in its place.
