yes both of those will woprk nicely... but if you are really willing to spend a ton on a mobo, you should go buy the soyo dragon 2, it has nice specs on it

http://www.soyousa.c...desc.php?id=253

i am sure there are cheaper prices than that at the soyo store, but try to look around for it

but, you could always walk down to your local fry's and be able to pick up a $60-80 mobo that is still nice, and reliable

just stay away from any ECS mobo, cause those things are loads of shit

depends on how youre gunna use it

my mobo is an abit KV7, it was 75 bux and it works fine for what i do on it(gaming, movies and video editing)

but that soyo dragon 2 would let you practically do anything in theory, it has built in firewire, usb2, 5.1 audio, sata(and raid 0, 1), ide(and raid, i dont remeber which arrays), 8x agp, dual chanel ram

that mobo is packed with stuff, but if you dont do mass storage, or use a lot of usb or firewire, you would be better off buying soem 60 dollar mobo

EDIT: and even if you use usb or firewire, you can buy a $10 card

dermic. i am going to get the dragon 2 board that you showed me. is it a good reliable board. i like how it comes with a modem and a card reader/firewire/usb 2.0 drive that i can stick in one of my empty bays.

i did a few searches on the groups about it, there dont seem to be any major problems(if anyone is familiar with the nasty bug in the P4X400 board)

so if you are really willing to spend that much go right ahead

EDIT; before i forget, if you are gunna use your old power supply you need to check if it has a certain connection, if you have a really old power supply, then you will have to get a new one

the connection is 4 pins, like the normal 12v connection, but the pins are laid out in two rows of two pins, while the 12v has 1 row of 4 pins(i belive 2 wires for the connection are yellow, and the other two are black but i cant recall)

i wanna add in for j_man... a chipset basically is a set of of chips w/software on them which allow for the motherboard to interact with the processor, ram and w/e else you add on the board at a later time.  currently, for the amd line of processors, the nvidia nforce2 and via kt600 chipsets are the fastest.  sis chipsets aren't bad at all either.  if you decide to get the nforce2 chipset w/ an amd cpu, your gonna get a good overclocking solution as the nforce2 chipset allows for the amd cpu to be unlocked via the bios instead of having to solder the damn thing.

oh, and trust us, don't get an intergrated board (especially one with intergrated video.)  while intergrated sound is fine, integrated video just eats your precious ram and shows absolutely no performance for it. lol, if u don't believe me, you will after.

peace

lol as a said before if you really want to spend that much on a mobo go right ahead, if you wanted recommendations, i woudl rather know your price range and what you use it for, then i can make some recommendations

if you go to www.newegg.com you can find a big sort of mobos there, but i suggest you stick to the big name companies like soyo, abit, intel, asus, etc... some of the manufacturers are total shit, like ecs

this is a cheap abit mobo, with some nice features in it
http://www.newegg.co...y=BROWSE&depa=1
only thing it lacks in my opinion is dual channel ram, and a few more slots fo rmore ram, but it is 66 bux

shop around, and see what you may like, but as scarface mentioned stay away from onboard video
