i was given an xbox with an unknown chip in it, you have to hold the start button to turn the chip on and load evox dash or just press it to load the m$ dash, when i first boot the xbox to either dash it starts to load and gets to the bit just before it goes to a big X and then normally loads the dash, but this one crashes, i then have to reboot several times before getting a dash, when finally i do get a dash if i play a game for while and let the xbox warm up it will turn off and on with no problems, someone suggested changing the hard drive, which i did by upgrading to a wd 80gb, but i still get the same problem, i thought it may be a bios problem but as i understand it there are 2 bios's, one for evox and one for ms dash, so if it happens on both surely it cant be the bios, my question is what other hardware could cause this fault? that it crashes when cold but is fine once warmed up?
