converting to divx wont gie you any better quality than the original, only a smaller filesize.  if anything the quality will go down.  The only way to get a better quality output would be to run it through a filter, the site u really wana be askin this is www.doom9.org (or .net, i havent been in a while)

I used an app called Vidomi with pretty good results, and farely
easy to use. Try this site for all kinds of info on Video conversion.

But personally myself I use Virtuadub.


and why the hell you would want to chop of the Widescreen bars ?

You would stretch and distort the picture and end up with some terrible AR.

as to your problem with mpeg2, have you tryed encoding the audio and video as seperate files ?

dr divix is a great prog but ur gona have to get a warez of it or it wont work good......

TMPGEnc to clip boarders and lenght and Dr. DivX to encode.

i used TMPG to clip the black borders. I encoded it to mpg because mpeg2 doesn't work and would take sooo long.

Encoding it into DivX would make the quality bad.
