Have you tried updating your chipset drivers?  I would install the latest chipset drivers to see if that solves the problem.

im using the same card with catalyst 3.9. halo works fine, with only a few flaws (sniper rifle night vision=blackness).  to fix it, i forced it to run using directx 8 instead of 9. right click on the desktop icon of hao, where it says "path", go to the end of it after the quotation mark, leave a space, and type -use14.  i dont know if that'll do anything for you, but solves my problem. running windows update mite help too.

note: UnrealII and jedi academy work fine for me. i dont have homeworld 2.

Try the Omega optimized drivers.  HERE.
Take note of the optimized BIOS settings for the drivers too.

Do you have the latest version of DirectX installed?  I doubt that's the problem but it's worth a shot I suppose.
