i signed up for a standard 7.2MBPS speedstream DSL connection when the technology first came out and got a free modem (worth over 100 quid, not sure how many dollars)

soon tons of subscribers were flooding in and a firmware update allowed the line to reach speeds of 2.8mbps only

dual line connection, and they can't do shit about it cuz they know i'd still take them to court (i didnt sign anything)

i had used pac bell DSL long before it hit the mainstream public, and i had speeds of about 8 mbps, but due to somethign in the contract they could change my speeds, so after sbc came in and set off comercials and shit for dsl my speeds went down to less than 1 mbps

i got fucked over big time, and still had to pay the same price until my contract expired

I don't know much about uncapping, but I must warn you, don't even try to do it.

One of my friend did this to his cable modem and he was greeted by the FBI at his door (they came to his house and gave him a long speech) for something along the lines of stealing property (I don't actually know the specifics or remember it since this happened awhile ago).

They settled with him having to pay a huge fine, I think it was $10000.

yeah i have heard similar horror stories...

i had been talking with someone who is uncapped on my ISP and he has been rather safe for 2 years, but i wont go into specifics so i dun get the thread locked

my cable = capped still. My ISP = since some ppl been having problems connecting since we were upgrading blah, blah, you get 2mbs dl till March 04. so i = wow!

first of all, no FBI out where i am, Secondly the police would just laugh if they got a complaint from the ISP that im stealing bandwidth

FINALLY my ISP wouldnt know what the hell was going on if you bit them in the ass
