OK, I've made a link if you wanna see pictures of what you need to be doing, but basically all you have to do is these simple steps:
1) Open GameCube lid
2) Look at underside to see two tabs on the left
3) Push the two tabs together and the nameplate will pop up
4) Close lid and pull up the nameplate, to reinsert simply push in back in making sure it is facing the right way (there is a tab that sticks out) and there you have it!

Nice tutorial, although it's already been done over at Eight-Four.
Not to mention, that will not work on rev C platinum gamecubes.
