I pretty sure it can play import and backup games, they most likely wont say it will for legal reasons, all it really needs is a ftp program, with Im pretty sure its possible,
just got to wait and see.

they should def. add a ftp option and also a ARMAX/GS/CB interface, since booting from hdd isnt what the present ARMAX/GS/CB can do.

I managed to hook up a WD 120GB drive to the Network adapter today. I had to trim the metal on the outside of both the power and IDE connectors to allow them to move out in each direction just a tad so it would go. Unless youtrim it won't go without a serious fight.

It does format the hard drive, this is what is says from the site.

Will HDLoader be able to format my 3rd party HDD?

Yes, HDLoader will give you the option to format your HDD if it detects that it is not already formatted.

So I guess that answers your question.

How come HDLoader only supports up to a 120GB Hard Drive? The reason I ask is CompUSA has their 250GB Maxtor for $129.99 after $70 instant savings. This only goes through June 5. The Maxtor 120GB Hard Drive sells for $119.99, thats $10 extra dollars for more than twice the storage space. It would be crazy to pass this deal up. Does anyone know if the HDLoader could eventually run a 120GB+ Hard Drive?

Hopefully,  there will be PC->PS2 transfer programs like Xfer and Qwix along with PS2<->PS2 transfer programs like Xtoolbox as well.

I do forsee one problem:  This is will spawn many newb questions, like "How can I hook my PS2 up to my Xbox for system link?" and " How can I transfer my Xbox games to my PS2?"

Yea, the only thing that could really cause the PS2 to not support more than 120gb, would be either the file format, or the hdloader software itself.

My question is, does anyone know when this is gonna be released?  I know I can preorder, but when is the expected shipment date.

I'm pretty sure it has the same limitation as the xbox did with the 137gb limit.

I think the first(and easiest) form of a dash for the PS2 will be with the DMS3 mod like i have, It already had HD support and i hooked up my 10GB HD from my XBOX and formated it with a disk made for the DMS3. It does'nt run games from the HD but if someone who knows how to code for the DMS3 im sure could get it to boot a dash when launched in dev mode then backup or run a game from there.
I read some rumors that the DMS3 team might have made the HDloader for PS2 but i dont know if i belive it.

I read the HD loader needs the disk in the tray while playing from the HD so im wondering if the PS2 needs a disk on the drive, like it wont play a game just from the HD alone and needs a somesort of disk in the DVDrom drive while it's playing from the HD.

Any thoughts on this?
