i found the ff9 cardgame to be better than the simpler one in ff8. and i personally hated the plot of ff8.  it just wasnt a "prevent the end of the world" epic kind of plot that i was expecting, and as a restult my experience with it seemed quite shallow. it was just sort of sitting through this plot that had little surprises.  i just beat ff6/3 again, and i put that second only to 7.  because of what some ppl said in this thread, i picked up chrono cross, beat that too. i didnt enjoy it that much... i actually found the plot confusing because of the parallel worlds, and trying to keep things straight.

well ff6 and CT were good, in their day.  its easy to see why they were so popular. but compared to most newer ones, the plot is not as deep or compelling, and the characters are not developed as thoroughly.  Furthermore, the combat system, and magic, etc. provide much fewer options and customizabilty, naturally, because they're old games.  So yeah, those were good relative to their "era" but you can only hang on to them for so long before some other game takes the good things and makes them better, and uses the ever-growing technological advances.

ff7 is a milestone for too many reasons.

hmmm.... im not going to quote your post because its long, but thats an interesting weapon strategy...but it'll take extremely long to take them down like that (assuming your kotr does far less than 9999 which is very likely).  But air tam storm would probably deal a good 9999 to you if you have a llot of materia equipped (9 right? i dont remember exactly how it works).

ive always beefed up my characters, mastered final attack+phoenix, and kept on bashing away with kotr+mime till i cant do it anymore, then Wmagic+quadra+demi3 for a good 8 hits of 9999 till i cant. then do 9999dmg omnislash +mime till i cant do it anymore, and for the home stretch its ususually cloud alone doing 4xcut 9999dmg till its dead.  of course, this is for emerald. ruby is a whole lot easier and weaker.  im going to give your strat a try next time....

i didnt like the chrono cross battle system. arranging your elements takes far too long, and the auto arrange thing just plain sucks.  fun game though.

Well even at level 99, your KOTR doesn't do very far from 6000. I found out that if you use Magic +50% (not to be confused with MP+50%), then you will get 9999 ever time. Those stat boosters are useful, especially if your trying to max out your character.

i usually save up hero drinks that you find and earn in chocobo racing, feed them all to cloud, and omnislash/kotr will do 9999 per hit.  very nifty item to collect.

edit: ive never got to level 99 characters. highest ever for me was 88.

whoa...i just finished xenogears...now THIS is the best one...
much longer than any FF game (except 11...) with a great battlesystem, and both human and mech fights, and an amazing plot  that surpasses that of any other square games ive played (ff6 and up, c trigger, c cross).
now onto xenosaga, although it has nothing to do with squenix anymore...hope its good.
