Hey guys.

Around five months ago, I noticed that my PC wouldn't detect my dsl modem through the ethernet connection I had.  The modem was set up through ethernet since the day I got it.  One day the green light for the ethernet selection never came on and I couldn't go online.  I then proceeded to install a USB driver for my modem and got online that way.

The problem is, I haven't been able to FTP to my xbox since, due to the PC not seeing any ethernet connections.   What I don't get is that the port on the back of the PC is still lit.  Is the thing fried or what?  There are some new files I would love to get my hands on-- I'd appreciate any help or suggestions.

If there is no cable plugged into the ethernet port of the modem and there is a link light on, I would say that the ethernet port is hosed.

easiest fix would be to get a new NIC (ethernet card) I'd say yours is dead.

pop that in a pci slot and you'll be able to ftp just like you did before

you also might wanna look into getting a router or a switch so you're not always movin cables when you wanna connect to your xbox
