I have a simple question..

When running a Gamecube ISO over a LAN, does it play fine, or is it choppy?

Well, I just got started tonight. I got the Phoenix loader program, and when it loaded my backup of Mario Kart, said it would load in 50 minutes. Is that right? That long?

Couple of mins (more like "moments") after the loader sends the "code" over or whatever.  But depending on the game (if it actually will load or not) you will able to stream the iso from pc to gamecube and play fairly immediately.  A good example would be Zelda Windwaker using a 1.3 loader.  There are very minor sound glitches (compared to lets say Viewtiful Joe) during the fmv and I experienced no lag during gameplay (only tested like 10 mins worth).

Technically, couldn't this be done using Linux on the X-Box?  According to www.cubehacker.com, there's Mac OS X and Linux ports of PSOload V1.1.  It would make sense that one could use this through gentoox to load games onto the NGC.  However I won't confirm it to work at all b/c I'm not very experienced with linux in general.

I have been dabbling in and out of the scene for a while.

Here are some of my bookmarks:

Cube Hacker
Dextrose Gamecube Forum
Gcdev
Gamecube Compatabiltiy List

Right Now it is not very practical (my opinion) as the Gamecube BBA is only 10Mps
so streaming that amount of information is kinda tough

On the other hand-- tmbinc-- has recently gotten linux booting Link

laugh.gif  Yes, now that you put it that way, I misunderstood the question. I stupidly assumed he was talking about streaming XBOX ISOs to the GC. When you put it in this perspective, it doent seem that far fetched.

I would say no, since Mario Kart doesnt have online capability. Its only lan compatible (even though there are hacks out there which can allow u to play online).  PSO is the only official online game out right now... But Im just guessing. Dont hold me to it.
