I think the reason for the malfunction is the user.  PS2's have severe problems with people who post in the wrong area.

sounds like the laser is goin out. just replace the laser.

it my help if you know how to adjust the laser and save a lot of money check out ps2newz.net there are tut for how to adjust laser
