No Mod Booting Alternatives?

Are there any alternatives to booting a ps2 backup on cd-r, without a modchip or a gameshark 2 or a memory card hack?

I was trying to get my backup of GTA3 (not VC) to run, but I don't know of a way to boot them without any of those steps up there. Are there patches or something?

before i installed my ps2 chip in my system i always used game shark 2 for cdr works perfect everytime. i used the knife method but if u get a usb mod u can just press eject should just get a magic 3.1 they are cheap now

actually you can already install 40gb+ hdd on your PS2 but there is not much you can do with it, except download online content for games, mostly rpg. and the PS@ with the hdd you are talking about is already out in japan.
