Ps2 Modding
« on: August 26, 2003, 11:19:00 AM »

I think a no-swap mod is an overwhelmingly better solution, personally, so if you have to hire a pro to do it, I say go for it.  Granted this may sound partial, but I don't care who you have do it, so I'm not pushing for business.  I just think it's much nicer to be able to boot EVERYTHING directly and not have to worry about fliptops, swapping a disc EVERYTIME you want to play, etc...

I have one of those Plug-Mods for the original PSX (Yes, I still call it PSX instead of Playstation), and I can say it does work great...

The only problem is that it does become somewhat of a pain after a while... I would say if you are going to be using Imports or Backups on a regular basis, it would be to your advantage to either install (or pay for an install) of a modchip...

Hi Xeero... I wish I had the $, I'd ship it out to you, just don't have $100 to spend on modding the PS2. happy.gif
What are the different swap methods? Fliptop I've heard of, but seems a little scary, just because I'm unfamilliar.
What about that PS2 Independance thing? Did anyone come up with a way to run imports and burns with that?

Check the Modchip Installers forum.  There may be someone fairly local to you that can do the install for you.  If you're on a budget, a Magic 3.1 install (including chip) will cost you, what....$65 or $70?  I'd spring for it.  rolleyes.gif
