No Video Or Audio But Green Led (w/ Modchip)
« on: January 09, 2007, 02:53:00 AM »

It seems I have a strange problem: my xbox (v1.1) no longer displays video or audio when I turn it on. When I am not using a modchip the xbox will do its hardware failure routine (on-off two or three times and then red/orange flashing), when I boot with a duox2 it seems to boot fine (LED green, some blinking as Cromwell does) but there is no video or audio.

There are two things I did, stupidly enough at the same time, which could have caused this: soldering in RAM and enabling TSOP flashing, whereby to add to the problem I lifted that little pad next to C7R3. I now tacked the wire onto a via nearest to that pad.

The problem is the same with or without those traces bridged. The modchip works fine in another xbox. Another strange thing is that when I press the eject button the drive doesnt eject, although something of a click-ish sound can be heard, but starts what sounds like a reread of whatever is already in there (tested on a Philips 6035/21 and a H-LG).

When a disc is in the drive it starts to read, but it doesnt seem like it runs any code off of it. The Xbox does not acquire an IP for itself, or apparently does anything else.

I have not yet fully examined the extra RAM for bridges between soldered pins, nor have I completely examined the board for solder splashes yet, but I thought those gave a hardware failure status? Could it be that the modchip somehow circumvents the hardware failure signs and just hangs? Is there something else which might be going on?

Thanks in advance!
