Is there a new PS2 dashboard out yet some you can do all the things you can do on the Xbox?

The PS2 doesn't use a dash per se.
Nor have they really done the same things you can on the xbox.
You aren't going to run games off a hard drive...
You can send homebrew programs over USB or now, the ethernet interface to the ps2 and run them.

PS2 modding is pretty worthless in comparison to the Xbox.  Aside from using "backed-up" games if you are really devoted to piracy, there is no real reason to do it, especially if you are expecting returns on the mod like you get with an xbox.

Well that's kinda unfair statement.
If the ps2dev scene was being illegal, and used copyrighted materials like sony libraries that aren't included with gcc, it'd be much further.
They have to reverse engineer everything.
How far along is the OpenXDK? tongue.gif
The ps2 mod scene is mostly for developers, for now.

The XDK makes the xbox scene pretty easy, if that wasn't leaked, imagine how far the xbox mod scene would be right now.

I never claimed to be fair.  Irrespective of how they got their current state, it just seems to me a modded xbox is far more greatly improved than a modded ps2.  That's all.

Believe me, you don't have to convince me of how great the PS2 is, in and of itself.  But the marginal returns combined with the trickier installation make PS2 modding of much less interest to me than xbox modding.

Yeah if you aren't a developer don't bother, unless you're a pirate.
Those are the only two reasons people really get chips for the ps2.
There isn't a middle ground where it's just useful for the gamer who wants to enhance his system.
It's like Chem1A class, weeds all the slackers ;)
