Besides I have nothing against you, as you don't post false facts related to the hardware.

Not to mention, many times when someone posts something as a generalization, as you say you did, often times they have specific people in mind, which is why I said what I did.
Glad to see we have no issues with each other.

And for the record, many times when people post false facts, they believe them to be true, so if you don't correct them, they're just going to keep spreading the false facts. I've already said in these threads I don't care about what a person thinks about the console, just the facts they post.
I use all consoles, so I don't buy the idea that you should only use one.

And sure, people can just post facts they copied, or people can actually have done development on a system and know firsthand about it. I don't know many other people here who have actually written an irx for the ps2, but then again this isn't a ps2 site.

PS2 underpowered, poor build quality and shit homebrew scene.

GTA is good of course and it has a few other moments but it is actually a pile of shit.

Then again I didn't buy my xbox just to play games on, it's just the best media player in the world for the price. DOA 3, Soul cailbur 2, Nightfire, Amped, Halo, etc. are just bonuses

Playstation 2 because it has all the better games, Xbox because its more powerfull and has better hardware then SONY PS2.

My Xbox is still packed, I only played Splinter Cell.
MS just needs to get licenses so that all the games come on Xbox too, if Xbox and PS2 had all the same games, I will definitely get an Xbox in that case, also I have unmoded PS2 but still play copied games on it, thats another beauty of PS2.

this has gotten way off the original question. I don't think the original poster even CARED about the technical differences between the Xbox and PS2, or that algorhythms that will work great on one architecture will not on another (Vertex are quite different than Vectors). Having said that,
I have both and I love the RPGs on the PS2, and the FPS on the Xbox. Platformers are a toss-up (and may get competition from GC) I find myself playing on Xbox Live most of the time these days. Socom is good too, but not as enjoyable (to me only... this is my OPINION only).
So what would be the best? unmodded? It depends on your choice of genre.

This is good, this is real good. There I was walking around with this stupid notion that 1st gen xbox games show off the system's power and you can judge 3rd gen ps2 games straight against it. No mention of precious texture compression or the lack of hard disk. Such games as republic the revolution would damand such things. You connect your xbox up to a monitor or high def TV and it showss the PS2 up for the underpowered rediculously overhyped and very poorly made piece of shit it is.

Sure I love vice city but I finished it so I doubt I'll be playing it again. My game of the moment is Mafia better than vice city and a hell of a lot better looking I'll be keeping a keen eye on the xbox port and possible PS2 port. Burnout 2 I miss but it'll be out soon enough. Soul calibur 2 is identical apart from of course I don't have to scurry around to find the disk. Devil may cry 2 is ok but it's a bit shit really lacking any real freedom. I play my friends PS2 quite alot but we always end up on the xbox in the end whether it's one last bout in DOA3 or a quick blast on 2 player speedball 2 on winston it's all good. Xbox does need more games but I don't have enough time to play what I've got already.

To answer which I'd prefer an umodded PS2 or an unmodded Xbox it would have to be an xbox because I'd play Live something which is going to come and bit Sony long and hard in the arse.

keeping in mind that leisenstein asked if you would rather own an unmodded xbox or an unmodded PS2 (so take mods out of the equation) i would go with PS2. modded is a different story, but that wasn't even asked for. anyway, that's my 2 cents.
