OK as the title states my XBox is throwing me a curveball with this really strange problem. I just recently replaced my Thomson drive with a Samsung 605 version B drive hoping to fix the intermittent read errors I was having with the Thomson. Well I installed it and I'm pretty much having the same problem. I can put in ANY disc, whether it be an original disc, DVD+R, DVD-R, movie disc, whatever, and most of the time UnleashX will show the tray as empty, however most of the time if I load up XBMC as an app, it will recognize the disc in the tray, however it won't show the icon for whatever game is in there, it just shows the default black folder icon.

I am aware of the problem with the Sammy drives not reading DVD+R discs without the booktype changed and I have already taken care of that with my DVD+RW firmware so that's not my concern. Also when I access the XBox through my dashboard (again UnleashX) via my FTP client, the D drive will not even be listed. It only lists, C, E, F, G, etc. But when I load up XBMC and access the XBox via FTP through XBMC, it reads the D drive fine. This is a very frustrating issue, and logically a reasonable solution would be to use XBMC as my dashboard, but I don't want to do that because it doesn't fix the problem. My modded XBox has worked like a dream for me for years until just recently when the Thomson drive starting having intermittent read errors. So is it possible since the Sammy drive is doing the same thing that the problem lies elsewhere? I could replace the laser but I don't want to spend money unless I'm pretty sure it's going to fix the problem. I already shelled out for a Sammy drive that didn't fix anything. Please help!
