The Nhl And A Tv Deal
« on: August 07, 2005, 02:49:00 PM »

OK so as many of you know ESPN no longer has a deal with the NHL to show any of the games.  So as of right now only locan channels will be showing games which means i'll only be able to see the blackhawks every game and only my penguins the one time they play.  I'm guessing that the NHL NEEDS hockey to be on TV, but does anyone have any idea if the NHL and ESPN are making another deal or if another cable channel is making a deal?

sad.gif I miss my Mariners even though this is a hard season for us. I would think if ESPN dosn't jump on NHL it will cost them some serious money. Just look at whats going on in the free agent market right now. Maybe ABC or Fox might sign up I just hope for Fox dosn't use that stupid puck tracker again

Of course there always is Centre Ice, but it looks like Comcast may be the one who takes the big plunge.

tongue.gif , I know it sucks Hockey is not as big as Basketball, Football and Baseball in the states so they will only show a few games a year if that. Other wise you are ouuta luck. I would contact Comcast and see what they say other wise I would go with NHL Center Ice if you can get it.

here at home i have comcast cable but when i'm away at school which is most of the year i have Insight cable which has a Comcast Sports Channel.  Seems to me that they should show the games on their sports channel, but apparently that makes too much sense for americans when it comes to hockey.  I don't think insight offers any sort of center ice thing, does anyone know?

sad.gif     well..... espn rejected the deal so looks like i can't watch games this year.... wtf, this pisses me off.  I'd almost rather have them not play, at least that way i would know i'm not missing out on anything
