Canadians: Know This
« on: June 07, 2004, 05:50:00 PM »

The Tampa Bay Lightning just beat the Calgary Flames in the NHL Championship.

Ya know what?  Hockey is barely a sport in the U.S.  It ranks behind football, basketball, baseball, and probably even golf.  There are plenty of fans here in the U.S., but hockey just isn't nearly as big as the other sports I mentioned.

A team from the U.S. just beat a team from Canada.  I'm sure every person in Canada was watching that game.  But in the U.S., I wouldn't doubt it if more people were watching "Fear Factor" or "The Oreilly Factor."

I remember when the U.S. girls team played the Canadien girls team in the winter olympics a couple years ago.  Was that for the championship? (I honestly don't remember).  What's absolutely amazing is that I didn't even know the U.S. had a women's hockey team.  But over in Canada, you guys treated it like it was the Superbowl or something.

I don't really know why I posted this.  But I guess it's just because I know there are a ton of Canadiens on this message board, and I just wanted you to know that a team from the United States just beat a team from Canada, and most of us don't even care.

Chew on that. smile.gif

Oh and by the way, I didn't even know there was an NHL team in Florida.  Now I'll be honest and say that I don't know if most NHL players come from Canada or not.  So, you may have one on me there.

EDIT:  Is it Canadian or Canadien?

The MVP was from PEI (Prince Edward Island) which is in Canada.  The second leading scorer on the team was from Quebec, and the reason you guys scored that game winning goal (Lecalvier) is from Quebec.

Your goalie is from Russia.

Don't you worry, we still OWN hockey.

Okay, you can have hockey.

But we're keeping Pamela Anderson.

Count them yourself.
If you can't there are 3 Americans on the team and one is the backup goalie and the other is a fighter.

Spency and Colonel set him up, mamajo knocks him down.

You'd best keep that cup in an air conditioned room, it wasn't made to withstand 100 degree temperatures.

Yeah, they would have had me good if I didn't say this in my first post:

Also, how is this really a big deal?   A "Canadian" team hasn't won the cup since '93.  Of course I say "Canadian" since all teams are essentially from Canada.  The laundry of the team this year happened to be from the US.  wink.gif

Tampa Bay did quite a good job. Everyone in Canada all knows who won the cup. Most good players are from Canada, Sweden, Czech, and I have seen a few good ones from america as well. Half the NHL league is preety much Canada and the other half or so is just from Sweden, Russia, and those other country's then theres a small percent of good players in America.

But, we have to keep Pamela Anderson. Other candian's girls are just hairy. There like wildabeasts.
