You are wrong...posts and the crossbar are both red - the posts are vertical and the crossbar connects the posts horizontally.  When an announcer says, "He hit the crossbar" that is the horizontal bar and is not a goal.  Hitting a post or crossbar does not result in a goal since they are even with the line. The puck only hits the front of the post and/or crossbar and, therefore, could not be a goal.  To be a goal, the puck must be completely past the goal line.

PS I was a goalie so I think I would know.
