It kind of sucks that "soccer" from Europe doesnt get that much attention in the states.  I am not a huge soccer fan but it would be interesting to watch everyone once in a while and to see the best players in the world.  Sports are sports to me and would love to understand the rivalries over there.

Actually there is 3 matches on TV every weekend in USA, more than in England  blink.gif I know this as my uncle lives in America and he watches more games than us!

Well it depends on what channels you get.  I will get a few here  on MSG which is a cable channel out of NYC and the Yankees station, YES, supposedly is to play some games.  But usually these games are only on late at night or basically when there is no other programming available.  You never see games on ESPN unless its like World Cup or something.

Ah ok, all I know is my Uncle In Houstan gets to watch 2 matches on sunday and one on saturday at around 10-3 his time!

Well, SOCCER doesn't involve tackling and intentional collisions at high speed.

Trotting down a huge field tapping a ball with your toes is hardly "fast paced action" or "hard hitting"

I'll admit that Rugby is a pretty tough sport, though - and that's what American Football descended from (and predates the sport those guys above are prancing about over).

Technically, Soccer was called "Association Football" - kind of like "Powderpuff Football" or "Flag Football" - different from "real" football. The term "Soccer" was derived from that, though "Futbol" is an acceptable name, since it is easily differentiated from the hard hitting American sport.  biggrin.gif
