ESA spent 714K USD to lobby in 1Q

Depressing really.
This represents one of the many things in the US that needs to be fixed...
Can anyone say "too much corporate lobbying"?

Kids have easier access to more violent/gruesome/sexual movies than they do video games. I think the parental controls on the 360 work just fine. And fight piracy? Wasted breath if you ask me.

ESA? Is this the new MPAA/RIAA?

ESA 2007 Year-End = $1,428,729

It's been at least a million dollars a year since 2005 and growing. You can thank Sarah Evers of the ESA for this.

I wonder what else we can find with this database.

The ESA is against federal regulation and for self imposed (key work is self) parental control.  So, no they aren't the new RIAA/MPAA (as long as they don't push for more copyright protection and anti-circumvention laws).  

I agree that there are far to many government lobbies but if the ESA didn't lobby than the anti-gamers would have a monopoly on legislation.  The anti-gamers lobbies seem to spend more money on getting these games removed than anyone spends on keeping them.  Luckily the ESA has the first amendment on their side.
