We always talk about media bias, simply stating yeah we know its there, but to actually witness it left me ill. Even though the news paper was on my side, I found the entire thing very alarming.
I love it when people actually think constructively and dare to criticize something despite being on the "same side". I guess most newspaper and tv-networks have officially declared their political opinion, and can therefore be pro whatever they like. As long as they're open with their opinions I don't care too much even though I think it's better to try and stay as unbiased as possible.
The worst is obviously when it's clear they have a different agenda than what they claim. Fox is probably as republican as possible despite their "Fair and balanced". I find their reporting very alarming. I honestly become a bit scared of the dark whenever I watch O'reilly.
Anyway, it must've been a good experience to learn how the media and political parties work.
I doubt you'd see a difference in behaviour between the way the democrats and republicans work. They all toughen up and know that if you don't walk the tough line, you won't get your initiatives through. It's a sad development, but I believe this happens in all parties no matter left or right. The greatest problem with that would probably be that less people get interested in joining parties.
But on the other hand I'm starting to feel it's good if people could have a political interest that isn't bound to a party. In the next election I probably will vote for the party I used to be a member of, but the reason I'm not a member any more is because I realized that members of any party start acting as a bunch of sheep and if you disagree with them you're a "traitor".
Btw, what the hell was it all about?
