Ann Coulter

Long time now. I was just wondering what's your opinion on the atmosphere of the political discussions brought up today.

I've seen Ann Coulter on the TV a lot lately(she's hot, simple as that) and she's by all means part of the toughened up atmosphere in the politcal arena. But what's the point of the hard politics really?

I just saw an interview with her, and I often watch Fox news where she seems scholard. I never see them bringing up any real points with their discussions. It's all about saying we're right and they're not. It's all about attacks on liberals, downright saying liberals are stupid godless people. In what way should I feel their opinions coming through if the only opinion they bring forward is about bashing liberals?

Now I'm not american so it doesn't really matter since I can't vote, but don't you americans feel it's a bit sad that discussions have been replaced with pure bashings? The same thing has happened on the liberal side for decades in a sense as well, though. Left-wing music doesn't really affect my opinions exactly. And generally left-wing artist never do anything but pure bashings. So I guess this is some form of revolt(not a word a conservative like) against how succesful the left-wingers actually(unfortunately) were at bashing conservatives.

I reckon this is a result of the time we live in. People are tired of all the information and the politicians realize that if you want to get your point through, do it fast. And fast means no discussion, but pure bashing.

I bet there are a lot of good conservative opinions, but I never get them presented for me, so how could they ever change my opinion? Saying the death penalty is good because liberals are against it, isn't really convincing me.

Most of you here are most likely more politically interested than most, and I wonder if you're not tired of how the discussions are going today?

hi gronne - ive missed you wub.gif

first anne coulter:
First she is kind of a literary equivalent of a shock jock.  she is not really supposed to be taken all that seriously.  Yes she is well educated, and well read, but in her interviews and debates she is primarily out to offend people and say shocking things.  It is not meant to be enlightening.  i wager she does not really believe half the stuff she says, but only says it to sell books.

if you want to study conservative (or liberal for that matter) ideas go to the library and read books from conservative think tanks.  You will be amazed at how unconservative bush really is.  sadly, your never going to get it from fox, cnn, xbox-scene, etc

Damam: Sure, but don't you think it's sad that the public audience miss out on the real debates? The real issues they're actually supposed to vote on?

Do you mean the conservatives are more or less extreme than the FOX-news conservatives? I'm pretty sure you mean less conservative, because otherwise there's need for me to be scared of gops.

afruff: Could you give a link to support that?

its hard for me to say because i only owned cable for about a month, and never really watched fox-news.  I consider myself to be pretty conservative.  A lot of what i saw on fox were christian conservatives, which is really not conservative at all.  Its more of a twisted communism.  They want high social control, moderate economic control.  Conservatives in general want low social control, low economic control.

take for example bush who is a christian conservative.  people have rightly called him a neo-con.  a neo-con is a socialist whome is hawkish in their foreign policy.  that pretty much sums up bush to a tee.

afruff's statement is a classic example of what i am talking about.  I really doubt anne actually believes that.  But she says it anyways to shock and gain an audience.

She's evil, what i read in the "enquirer" the wives of the hubands who died in 9/11 were pissed off at the remarks she made.......heres one, in the enquirer, the book said"I've never seen people enjoying their husband's deaths so much,""she wrote.""How do we know their husbands weren't planning to divorce these harpies?""now that their shelf-life is dwindling, they better hurry up and appear in Playboy.""the jersey widows are steaming mad and fighting back.""Contrary to Coulter's statements, there was no joy in watching men that we loved burn alive.""they said in a joint statement."................. thats why she's evil. One of the widows said in the enquirer "She defends what she is doing by saying we made millions. Do I look like a millionaire?" no, they didn't. The widow also said this..."There was no happiness in telling our children their fathers weren't coming home.

what is funny about all of that is that "Law and Order" did an episode about this a while back, where they essentially said the exact same thing as Ann did.  I wouldnt be a bit suprised if she ripped the idea off from them.  But nobody really seemed to care when they did it, but ann says it and she makes millions.

Well, I don't know about that show politically incorrect, but considering it's name it seems to be some form of irony, right? But if she honestly means that, which I genuinely doubt, I'd say she's making herself look more stupid than she is.

Not that I'm defending her, I think shes fucking nuts. But it sounds like she was saying that some women shouldnt be allowed to vote due to their lack of involvement in the voting process? Thats what I got from it... Like I said, shes fucking nuts...

Also, the show she appeared on MAY have something to do with it, I think gronne hit the nail on the head, some kind of irony or twisted humor.

I'm in the middle of her latest book now, and just like the rest of her work, its ridiculous.  Prime example, in one chapter she claims something along the lines of "blacks [as a whole] shouldnt have to defend the worst of their race", and that "whites never have to do that".  She then claims that because Dukakis furlowed a man who then raped and attacked a couple, that all liberals are weak on crime, and that the death penalty should in instituted in all states, "before a liberal gets elected to power and lets all the murderers go".  Of course, she rarely refers to Dukakis by name, usually just "the greek midget".  Her work is full of personal attacks and outright hypocrisy.  She can be funny at times though...

Ann Coulter is just your typical nut feeding off the energy of the Religious Republican right wing convervatives.  People like Ann uses Christianity as a tool for their political and personal gain.  Now since when Jesus Christ anything about homosexuality, civil marriage or abortion?  Yet many brain washed Americans believe what of a few people like Ann says that Christians have to believe.

I thought I bring this thread back up.  This nut finally got some love from some Conservative newspapers after her 'faggot' stunt to John Edwards.

Well sadly our outrage gives her the attention she seeks. She's obviously says and does these things for their shock factor because it gets her attention and money. People still read her stuff and pay to hear her speak. I have listened to her speak. When she's not trying to shock people, she has some good points. I thought her attack on Edwards was pitiful to say the least, but it did what she wanted.
