No More Hot Booth Babes at E3?-- Posted by XanTium on January 23 18:14 EST
From teamxbox.com:

The consequences of the "Hot Coffee" GTA mod are far from over and it seems that the long arm of law is reaching not just game retailers, but the industry in general. The IGDA's Sex SIG got access to a copy of the 2006 E3 Expo Exhibitor's Handbook and found out that the new rules put a defacto censorship to any material, including games and booth babes, with partial nudity or sexually explicit/provocative content.

According to Page 13 of the Exhibitor's Handbook:
Material, including live models, conduct that is sexually explicit and/or sexually provocative, including but not limited to nudity, partial nudity and bathing suit bottoms, are prohibited on the Show floor, all common areas, and at any access points to the Show. ESA, in its sole discretion, will determine whether material is acceptable.

Well, Gamecloud scooped up an official response from E3 management and as it turns out, the “new” rule isn’t even new. From the official statement: “The E3Expo dress code policy is not new for 2006. In fact, it is the same as it has been for the past several years, and the vast majority of other major tradeshows have the same or similar policies. What’s new in 2006 is an update of the enforcement policies, which simply allow show management to better enforce the long-standing dress code. E3Expo is first and foremost a business show, and policies such as this one help create an environment not only ‘where business gets fun,’ but where business gets done.”

And here I was getting ready to write a massive page on how we should stop electing right wing religous lunatics to support idiotic parents who dont know how to use a V-Chip or read the big M on the front of a game. Oh well, will save it for another day.

People need to calm the f*** down, though. I am getting so tired of this outdated way of thinking getting in the way of us who would like to just have a little fun, whether it be E3 babes, video games, uncensored satellite TV/Radio, whatever.

On the same wavelength, I just found out that, due to censorship,  in some states like Utah you can't find the Hellboy movie, but just Helloboy!!!! So coooooool...  Better migrate to Canada, trust me.

And Questioner, u're right, we're laughing at it, at least here in Italy...

This is some major bull shit....

The only people that go to e3 are people that are involved with the video game industry... how many 14 your olds do you think are acctually going to be there...

Porn is still the number one reason why the internet is here... with all the new video game consols goming out that are all connected to the internet, there is going to be sexuall explicit content on the consolse. Its just going to take a little time for the market to start demanding it...

I hate how the ESA is trying to be our "daddy" and say you cant enjoy yourself at e3 anymore cuz the dumbshits that made GTASA put this kind of content in a video game and then lied about it...

Are they thinking that they will be able to influence game developers into not making games sexuall explicit content anymore????
Who the %$#@ do they think they are??!?!?!?

You're an idiot...
Porn is not the "number one reason why the Internet is here" (yes, it’s Internet, not internet)
Communication is the number one reason. Emailing and sending information electronically, either via chat, email, websites, ftping, file sharing, video streaming, VoIPing or whatever other communication service is available out there.

Who is the ESA? The ESA is the host of the E3 Expo. They define the rules. They call the shots. Stop your whining because you cannot look at the half-naked chick anymore with that $500 ticket and go spend a couple hundred bucks at a local strip club... You'll see a lot more...
This is a private entity and if you do not like the nature of the corporate business that is presented there, just do not go. Make a statement... Express how outraged you are that your ticket does not include a chick in a bathing suit... (Hint: You can see this, plus MUCH more on Long Beach... just a quick drive from the convention center) Just stop whining about a policy on dress code. They do not want this expo to become a "kid show" or a show for prepubescent adolescents. It is a trade show where serious topics are discussed and presented for people involved in the video game industry. Not the consumers of the product, but the creators of it. So should the Billy Bob Grain Grower Trade Show show a little? Or should they have only clothed attendees? Do you care? Do you still eat that slice of bread? Or do ya think about how much you really needed to have a shot of scoring your first look at a girl by going to a trade show dedicated to the harvesting of grain? This is no different. It is a professional trade show for professional attendees. What difference does it make to you anyways? G4 does not show that on TV...

I don't like the consequences, but I like gaming news out of E3, not photos of booth babes dressed up like characters for low reviewing games.

This is a lose / win situation in my book, although the quoted post saying that the rules are the same as they have always been has me thinking there will still be some thong ass hangin' out.
