Kalifornia Legalizes Gay Marriage

cali has become the first state to legalize gay marriage by re-defining it as being between two people rather than a man and a woman.  It should also be free from any legal dispute.

My feelings on this are not exactly settled, however i am glad this came from elected officials rather than the courts. . .

It will be interesting to see how this plays into state sovereinty as well.

so if they get divorced which fag gets the alimony(sp?) like the women always does when normal couples get divorced?  would it be the catcher? hehe
gay marriage is almost as dumb as normal marriage, why should you need a legal contract, just get married.   I thought marriage had something to do with god and not with the gov't.  Just another way for the gov't to profit i suppose.

Are you sure its a done deal?? Last I heard was that the bill was submitted to the Governor to sign or veto...and that was late afternoon when I heard that update. I dont think Arnold would just pass or veto so quickly, not to mention he already stated that he thought something of that nature should be up to the people of the state.

Actually, they have not LEGALIZED it yet.  It has to be signed by Schwarzenegger which he said he will not do.  He is going to veto it and unless the state congress can over-ride it (unlikely) it will not become law.

While I disagree with gay marriage, I don't think the government has the right to outlaw it.

looks like I jumped the gun on this - I thought it was a done deal when i posted it.

Schwartzeneger has said he will veto it "out of respect for the will of the people" and on the grounds that it is unconstitutional.  I must say that I am suprised at this.  Schwarteneger is such a social liberal that  I really thought he would have approved it.

That's a bunch of bull.  Gays cant get married, cause they are , well gay... That's not unconstitutional, that's not freedom, that's not anything but a bunch of christain ass holes pissed casue some dude's man sucks a better dick than his wife does.   I think gay people should be encouraged to get married.   Shit let them adopt kids too.  Just becasue people are not strait doesn't mean we should deny them rights for something they were born with .. That's like saying "Your black, to the back of the bus!"  All over again.. Didn't we fight to get rid of shit like that?  Now no one even ants to defend it.

What a horrible wicked people we have become.  The main arguement for Gay Marriage seems to be based upon the institution of marriage not working anyway so why not let them have it.  How pathetic.
