Just go play america's army, best free game I have ever played on the pc. As for FSW, I thought it was ok but it did teach me basic movement and cover fire ext....(good for paintball, airsoft, cod).

Actually, that article is leaving out important details.

Here's how it really went.

The gov't paid pandemic to develop the engine used to power FSW. THQ, the publisher of the game, now pays the gov't millions in royalty fees for game sales due to the fact that the game uses technologies built (monetarily) by the government. So the government did invest taxpayers money to build the engine, but it's also making money back on royalties.

You can see that as better or worse.

I still dont understand why they dont offer the game at a discounted price - the army also developed "Americas Army" Link, a pretty cool game made even cooler by the fact that it is available for free via download, or you can order a cd for a nominal price.

You are so right! We should also take away police's car simulation trainers too, cause they fall in the same category. Why make a cheap alternative when you can train soliders with real bullets and police with real vehicles! (screw the downsides of being shot or wrecking a real car) Damn... Our government is stupid.
