Once again, some jackass fires up the newest media frenzy.  I'm sure they'll portray this as something that never happens in war... well, except for when US soldiers are present.

Either way, it's disappointing to know about - especially for those of us who aren't there to understand the environment.

It's true every other military in the world can get away with worse, but our soldiers should know better by now - especially when they're on camera.

I will admit though... earlier that day the marine was released from the hospital after being shot in the face, so I'm guessing he was on edge.  Smooth move, dufus.

Yeah, I agree that the soldier was a little on edge because he got shot up earlier in the day.  I don't think he is guilty but I think he is more likely that soldier will be court marshalled.

I also think that is true that like many scandals like the Rodney King Beating, this is bad because someone happens to have a video camera running when this is happening.  This sort of thing probably happened more often than we thought but nobody happened to captured what happened.  

Of course, this won't do any good in the war on Iraq because this will look bad for the US.  I think this will be more of a downhill turn for the War for Iraq now that Colin Powell is going to resign.  Powell is the only moderate in the Bush Administration surrounded by Hawks where he wants to push the right agendas for peace.  I think Powell is the probably the only person in the Bush Administration who can bring peace to Palestine and Iraq.  Now Powell is going to get replaced by Bush's lap dog, Rice, we won't see any of that.

Going back to Iraq, the push in Fallujah caused more violence in Iraq not quelled it down, it is only a matter of time that we will have a draft.

I think he(the soldier) was shot in his face the day before not earlier that day.
If he was shot THAT day I could understand being a little upset but a whole day later he should be cool with those guys.

I dont give a fuck if a soldier shoots some guy,whether hes unarmed or in the middle of wiping his asshole clean after dropping some of his WMD's.Just kill him,if the first dumbass soldier werent so damn incompetent he would have been dead already.

That soldier may have killed 50 other people since the US occupation of Iraq started but this was murder.
I think its ok to blow some people up with a grenade or a mortor if they are trying to kill you but to shoot someone in the head when they are clearly not a threat isnt right.

I honestly found the most disturbing part of this tape was before the shooting, when the soldier asked the others if they had run into or shot any iraqi's, then casually asked if they had guns when the soldier said they had shot a couple.

This is true, part of what makes America great is we that we hold ourselves to a higher standard.  If it pans out that this guy did shoot him as being described he should be court marshalled and sent to jail.  Anything less would be a tragedy of justice.

I am constantly amazed at the temperance the infantry marines are showing the Iraqis.  Quite frankly I am disappointed.  I assume their hands are tied by the ever-ridiculous rules of engagement.  I expected to see fallujah a blood soaked slaughter house after the marines went through.  It seems that my dreams of the streets running red with Muslim blood will not come true.  It is a pity that these once ferocious fighters have been reduced to pandering goons.  They should have used the cameraman as fodder to catch a bullet.
