Well I hope they realized that I meant any and all sects of Christianity because I didn't feel like typing all that out and anyway I'd end up forgetting one and then I more than likely get yelled at from someone or the other.  (oh and that also counts Messianic Jews b/c they aren't really jews. They used to be.  tHey started during the Spanish Inquistion(SP?).  ANd they hid the fact that they were jewish and to the rest of the world they were christian.  So basically over generations they became Christians who on occasion did a tradition that turned out to be jewish in nature.  Then a group realized this and decide to be a christian hiding in poorly made Jew clothes.  Sorry they tick me off.  Stop calling your self a Jew.  If you believe the Jesus was/is the messia and that the messiah has in fact already come and is coming back....then your a christian.  NOT A JEW....grrr...sorry for this rant)

Also, I didn't know that there had been other religion polls...sorry.  I should have looked closer at the boards.
Sorry }=D

I am  my own god. I am the only molecular object that can determine my own perception in this universe.

Drugs also control your perception.

George Carlin says it best...

I refuse to belive there is an invisible man in the sky that is constantly watching me...

He also has the power to send me to a firey pit....but he loves me!

QUOTE (cainedna @ Oct 6 2004, 03:11 PM)
When you go to sleep, where does your god go?
Your perception is an illusion, and far from perfect.

Here's a hypothesis:

When he sleeps, the universe changes with his perception of it.  So, his dreams become the current state of the universe.  Since we are just components of his perception, we would change with his changes, and therefore would not be truly aware of the changes.

ooo....molecular object....sounds smart.  But a better phrase, if you had thought it out, would have been:
"I am my own god.  I alone control my destiny, therefore no higher power in the uiniverse can"
'determining your own perception' is deciding what you are seeing, not controlling your future.  But it does indeed seem that you are deciding an outlook on life.  If you can live that way, I commend you.  However... what we can't explain is still around us, and there are angels around us too.
BTW, Maximumbeing...you are spamming like crazy here.  You interject into everyone thread, about 10 times a day, with one-liners.  Just please have more sensible posts next time smile.gif

I've heard many deviations of the story of Adam and Eve, and I agree that there is a higher power, but I cannot advocate organized religion.

I like you views on that.  It is kinda the way way I feel.  Just minus the baptaist part and add judaism.  But no matter what religion you are (or aren't) as long as you have a beliefe in something , a higher being, yor own strength, G-d(s,esses), ect.  I think that you have the right idea.  Now I hope that doesn't sound like I'm pushing my views on y'all because I think that is one of the worst things you can do.  Believe whatever you want, just don't push it on me.  If I ask, then go right ahead and tell me all about it...but untill then don't prothelitze me.  Again, I'm not saying don't talk about your beliefs.  I mean I like the opinion of johnnobts and he spoke of his beliefs.  I guess what I'm trying to say is  listen to others and don't just preach.  (again you can disagree all you want, that's fine...and I hope agian that I'm not beng too pushy)

biggrin.gif

I didn't find this report the least strange. Of course religious make people feel better, otherwise they wouldn't be religious. Can it get more obvious.

Religions save people all the time. I wonder how many suicides we'd have without religions. All religions have enormous powers. How easy isn't it to like something that actually have all the answers you've always wondered about? I know a guy who was ready to attempt suicide, but before it was too late he got saved by God. And now he lives happy in a local sect. I don't talk to him anymore, but now and then I see him "jumping" around happy as a little bird, in our local supermarket. He might be freak... but he's a living freak.

THAT'S where I see positive parts of these lies. How can I hate something that literally stopped him from commiting suicide? Well, eventhough he didn't get much help from psychologists, I'm sure it'd be possible to help him to a nice life without the need of a lie. Now that'd never happen as they are too slow in the psychological department. As much as the lies saved these individuals they will kill a whole lot more people. Americans believe Bush is leading the way like some prophet. Thank you very much, now we've got a bigger tense in the world since the cold war.

When I was younger I wanted to believe in a God because I really couldn't believe no one had not made the world. When I was 6 years old I asked my mom all kinds of questions about the universe and what happens to your soul when you die. (my favorite question back then and still toughest question to answer was when I asked my mom with ALL sincerity "Are there more strawberries than humans?", still don't have a good answer to that rolleyes.gif ). Eventually I got some answers good enough to believe in, Evolution. But I'm still struggling with what happens to your soul. I believe it just dies, but that's not a very satisfying answer. In that case I like the idea of Karma, no matter I believe in it or not.

It's all about conviction. And I know that my conviction always make me a free man. You're not free if you slave under someone elses words, no matter they are good or not. If you claim that you're free under someone elses words, then you're lying to yourself.

Believe in yourself, if you're strong enough. Unfortunately most can't, understandably so, but that's a real shame for humanity.

I just had to say how much I like Nietzsche. Has anyone been more misunderstood and hated for the wrong reasons than him? If people only read him more.

Actually I'm not religious at all. It's in the human nature to believe in some spirituality. I don't however. What I was trying to say is that if you believe enough in yourself, you don't have to believe in a God. Atheists becoming religious are often weak people, and I don't blame them. Strong atheists will remain atheists.

People easily get hurt, and it's always easy to get help from a God when you don't know where to go anymore. I'm only explaining how I see the phenomena. I'm a diehard atheist. The fact that I can't really say what happens to your soul, is due to the impossibility of knowing, but I have my ideas. I'm still an atheist.
