| Well it's not as if these people didn't know what they were getting into. They're fulfilling their obligations as the article says. There won't be a draft so don't worry about it. Those worried about a draft can solve that problem by enlisting now so they can't be drafted. |
How can you say "there won't be a draft?" Our military is already so over-deployed that we've began to implement stop-loss, as well as moving soldiers from N. Korea (like my friend who is now in the Mojave desert training for Iraq), etc to the Gulf, as well as this latest "forced re-enlistment." If I'm a 17 year-old kid who may have been looking at the military or reserves as an option a year or two ago, I'd now have second thoughts. Likewise, people who may have chosen to re-up may now choose a civillian life. If a country like N. Korea or Iran rears ther ugly head, whose military will we send? The "coalition of the willing," or will we need to reinstate the draft? Or, will we just pull troops from Iraq and Afghanistan?
