I think this is BS, there is no way the xbox cause the house to burn down. Just a way for the insurance company to get their money back.

Not BS. Don't you remember when MS recalled thousands and thousands of power cables?

shud i be turning off my 24/7 on xbox thats used as a file server

probably not, but if it does keep you up at night, then fix it by easily dropping a bead of solder over the two points on the pcb that break with repeated power cord use on the psu, as seen in the pictures in this thread...

My opinion is you should be allowed to sue IF a electronic item causes the fire because of KNOWN malfunctioning parts or issues.

I have seen the sparks myself many times on peoples xbox's.

If the fire happened before m$'s power cord recal then he sure has a case and the insurance company should get money.   Even though the power cord does not stop the issues of the sparking power supply.. it supposedly would stop the issue from getting into the wall socket, so if the fire happens after the recall then the case would be alot harder to win.

My opinion.

Just another thing to add to the list of things an xbox can do, "burns down houses".

Well, the XBOX 720WTFBBQ is able to make you coffee and also comes with the 'Sex Slave' feature built-in.

After thinkin' about this, makes me wonder what the outcome would have been if the guy would of had a chip-modded xbox. I know it wouldn't be related but could that have allowed MS to build a stronger case against. If so, a few of us on this site would be a bit more aware of when that box is on or off.  unsure.gif

I'm thinking that if the house completely burned down, wheres the evidence that the xbox started the fire?
