its the simple fact that people in the states no nothing about other countries.  its the crazy media combined with the crazy all american education system that brainwashes you yanks.

i voted canada cause i live here, but tonnes of other countries are just as good... like japan and most EU countries.

one thing is for sure, the US is NOT the best country... you do have the best military tho, i will give that one too you.  Other than military your lacking in almost every other category.  Have fun next time you get shot.

QUOTE (Jse @ Sep 18 2003, 12:50 AM)
first off america didnt even take part in world war 1 it was one by britain and france alone

Taken from a World War 1 history page

QUOTE
On January 22, 1917, the German government gave notice that unrestricted submarine warfare would be resumed. When five U.S. vessels had been sunk by April, Wilson asked Congress for a declaration of war. Immediately, the government set about mobilizing its military resources, industry, labor and agriculture. By October 1918, on the eve of Allied victory, a U.S. army of over 1,750,000 soldiers had been deployed in France.

The U.S. Navy was crucial in helping the British break the submarine blockade, and in the summer of 1918, during a long-awaited German offensive, fresh American troops, under the command of General John J. Pershing, played a decisive role on land. In November, for example, American forces took an important part in the vast Meuse-Argonne offensive, which cracked Germany's vaunted Hindenburg Line.

President Wilson contributed greatly to an early end to the war by defining the war aims of the Allies, and by insisting that the struggle was being waged not against the German people but against their autocratic government. His famous Fourteen Points, submitted to the Senate in January 1918 as the basis for a just peace, called for abandonment of secret international agreements, a guarantee of freedom of the seas, the removal of tariff barriers between nations, reductions in national armaments, and an adjustment of colonial claims with due regard to the interests of the inhabitants affected. Other points sought to ensure self-rule and unhampered economic development for European nationalities. The Fourteenth Point constituted the keystone of Wilson's arch of peace -- the formation of an association of nations to afford "mutual guarantees of political independence and territorial integrity to great and small states alike."

By the summer of 1918, when Germany's armies were being beaten back, the German government appealed to Wilson to negotiate on the basis of the Fourteen Points. The president conferred with the Allies, who acceded to the German proposal. An armistice was concluded on November 11.

Here is another webpage with a timeline of the war http://www.firstworldwar.com/timeline/, funny how the US was involved so much in the last 2 years for not even taking part isnt it Jse?

Have fun next time you get shot?
What in the hell does that mean?

And for the record, I have no problem with most other countries.
I do have a problem with people like Jse that can't find anything
to say that is positive. I realize that the US is not perfect and
that we have made mistakes, but our country has done
some great things as well.

WWI:  US saves Europe's ass
WWII: US saves Europe's ass
Korea: US saves Korea under UN banner thast really an all US fight
Countless other times we put our troops on the line for a bunch of unthankful whiney bitches

You think after saving your sorry ass'es twice you'd be more thankful.

One thing a Canadian wrote about the US is that everytime a foregin country needs help we are there, but on 9/11 none of those useless nations lifted a finger

Explain to me how We(AMERICA) illegally attacked a country.

my upmost respect you you.  seriously, no one has said it's better.  we give and we don't get shit back.  thats america though, willing to give all we got for the cause

in my opinion (and probably most others), the US has done much greater things than any other country.  I am more proud to be born in the US than anything else....

if any of u canadians think u pay less for healthcare ur wrong because the gov conrtols it all there is less pharmacay companies competing which means higher prices for u guys.

wtf are you talking about? heathcare in canada applies to all people... old, young, rich or poor... unfortunatley not even comparable to what governor bush calls "health care".

sorry

What a f**king stupid thread

Surely most people in the US will choose US, most in the UK will choose UK etc etc . Seeing most people on these forums are American they're bound to win

No country is perfect ... I love the UK but can see why other countries (inc America) would be better for certain things (i.e. weather)

Chill out guys, it's one thing being patriotic, but another slagging off other countries when you've probably not even been there is just f**king stupid.

Does it matter, does it really matter?
