Upgrading 200 Gb Hdd To 500 Gb
« on: September 17, 2006, 01:55:00 PM »

I have a TSOP flashed Xbox that already been upgraded to 200GB drive and now I want to upgrade that to 500GB. I don't want to mess with tranferring over the network so I was wondering if it's possible to some how connect two drive on a single IDE ribbon and do faster transfer? Thanks.

Perhaps with Linux and a BIOS which doesn't require a DVD-ROM. Then again, in the time it would take to figure that out you could have copied it over the network. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

The most simple way: burn a CD with xboxhdm, connect both disks to your computer and start cloning.

You can do it with both drives connected to your PC.

Hey,
quickest way I've found to transfer stuff is have two xboxes networked, both running avalaunch.
Avalaunch's ftp uses a boost mode which is 10x faster than standard ftp from what I see

Im in the same ball park!!

I have 2 different hard drives (80 gig and 250 gig) the data off the 80 gig needs to get into the 250, i tried using xbox-ftp but it did not even work. Can some one give a better idea on how we would do this thru hdm?

Both hard drives have different eeproms!

Some one please help me and tell me what to do to use hdm's hard drive cloner, will it work to clone the data from a 80 gig to a 200 gig? If so how? Are there any alternate methods of transferring data, i have tried the xbox to xbox ftp but it did not work, i followed the tutorial and used a crossover cable! My pc's hard drive can not fit 80 gigs of data!

You can find information on how to clone an Xbox hard drive in the XboxHDM guide in my signature. Be aware, though, that cloning a large hard drive can require many hours to accomplish.

Additionally, if anyone is interested in knowing how to transfer files between Xboxes, there is also an Xbox-to-Xbox FTP guide in my signature.

So using the HDM method and cloning a 200 GB to a 500 GB, does 500 GB show up as a 200 GB or 500 GB? Will the remaining 300 GB will show up? Since cloning refers to 1-to-1 copy, will it not effect the drive size?

I just use Avalaunch.  Crossover cable, set to static ip's, set it and forget it.

Too much hassle to hook up drives in the pc.

Myself, I had not had a good experience with XbHDM's cloning option. It corrupted the F partition on HDD that I was cloning to.

Xplorer 360 maybe if both drives are unlocked?
