Try opening your Xbox, removing its power supply, and looking at these joints on the bottom.

If they are broken and black, you can try applying new solder to them.

You can remove the hard drive and DVD drive by following this guide. Note that you will not need to remove the motherboard.

To remove the power supply, unscrew these two screws. The power supply could then be lifted out of the case.

nope, the cord is there so that if Foxlinks POS power supply just happens to short, the Power cord's fuse pops, thus saving your xbox, but not fixing the problem. If those two joints look really nasty, just re-heat them with a soldering iron, adding a little solder as well, but not too much. btw, if it DID fry the entire thing, PM me cauz I have one I'm selling.

Sometimes, the power plug joints on older Xbox power supplies can break, causing smoke, sparks, or even a non-working Xbox as a result.

The replacement power cords are an attempt to reduce the number of Xboxes affected by this. You can read more on this here.

Yes, re-soldering the power plug joints should allow your Xbox to power on again.

Ouch, yea thats your typical solder joint + spark =  sad.gif  issue lol. Just heat up the solder on both joints so it melts and flows in the joint, and you're good to go.

If your soldering job is good enough, the power plug joints shouldn't break at any time in the near future.
