i'm mostly replying to this thread because i noticed that NOBODY listed all that remains, which surprised me since there were so many other metal bands listed

Just found this thread.... nice to see there are so many metal/rock fans at XS

I'm into pretty much all rock/metal from past to present. Love classic rock from the 70's and also the really (really!) cheesy 80's/90's metal.
A few favorites include...

Black Sabbath (no surprise there eh?)
Aerosmith
Iron Maiden
Dio
Dream Evil (awesome Swedish metal band!)
Megadeth
Paul Gilbert/Racer x/Mr Big
Ozzy

And the list could go on and on and on....

Been getting into some extremely cheesy euro metal lately too

. I can usually be found stumbling around drunk at the various big euro metal festivals during the summer months
