so, whats the best live band youve seen?

mine would have to be 311... of course im a huge fan of thiers but they go all out live... long sets and far beyond the usual level of playing that most bands do live... sounds as good as or better than a studio album...

im sort of expecting a lot of slipknot and other "hardcore" bands to be listed, and thats fine... just describe them more in depth than "they rock!"...

also, what bands would you like to see but would be very unlikely?

and no easy answers like the beatles... and im wondering more about bands of the past, or like a certain era from a bands careers...

mine would be billy idol/gen-x and the beastie boys... i know the beasties have the 5 boroughs and a mini-tour to go with it, but i doubt theyll come anywhere near me, and i doubt theyll tour after this one..  dry.gif

i'd probably see Tool live if i had the chance, but theres been little activity on their part for the last few years sad.gif  so it doesnt seem likely

Nothing else in the world compares to seeing The Tubes live.  I've seen them twice, live at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz, CA in the mid 90's.  They are awesome.  White Punks On Dope is better live than anything else they do, live or in the studio.  Fee Waybill still has all the vocal chops he had in the 70's.  If they come to your area, go and see them.

The Starting Line is absolutely awesome live.  Most punk rock bands do go all out every time they're on stage just cuz of the generation following them.

I want to see Trapt, Fuel or Nickelback live, considering they're my three favorite bands right now.  They are a possibility though, so that doesn't really answer the second question.  (O maybe Velvet Revolover too)

The ones I want to see live but never will - Steve Miller Band, ACDC, Gun N Roses and Van Halen.  I don't want to see them old now, I want to see them as they were when they were younger and just rocked out, but it's too late for that now.

I would also LOVE to see Jim Morrison, Hendrix or Marley do a live show.  They were probably some of the greatest live performances of all time.  Wish I coulda seen them.

311 does put on an awesome show.  Weezer usually has a good set too although I am kind of biased because I think that they are one of the greatest bands ever.

I am not really into No Doubt, but one of my friends is a promoter for a college in my town and she got me some VIP tickets and they really do have a great stage act.

For entertainment purposes only, check out a GWAR show.  They suck musically, but you will definately be entertained.

A Perfect Circle

Even if you're not a fan their live stuff sounds as good if not better than the record. Maynard James Keenan Really loves to play with the audience too between songs so that was fun.

the white stripes were insane when I saw them live. I wasnt that into them prior to seeing them on stage....it was like 90 minutes of constant music with no breaks to speak of

OK first off best band I've ever seen live is Tool.

Second a band I always hated with a passion until I saw them live and they put on one hell of a show was Linkin Park.  I know everyone's going to disagree but they can put on a great live show.

Deftones, Metallica, Rob Zombie, Mudvayne, Old Limp Bizkit (before and right after 3 dollar bill was released), System of a Down, Marilyn Manson, Cold, Korn, Pantera and Godsmack.

That's all I can think of for now.
