... here's my thoughts... (noting that mostly I listen to music for the lyrics as I'm a poet at heart...)
Thought I love Motorhead and Slayer... the drumming is nothing spectacular... and I've seen both bands live (Motorhead twice and Slayer once) and own all the discs from both
and as far as Led Zepplin goes, John Bonham was good... I never heard anything that just wanted to make me get out of my seat though
I'm not familiar with many of the drummer on this list or the bands that they play for... but of the ones that I am familiar with and have listened too, my vote goes to:
Neil Peart - Rush
I saw them live years ago (hmmm 14 years ago now, Mr. Big was opened for them)... and Neil laid down the most kickin' drum solo I've ever heard... it was amazing... And I'm certainly no Rush fan, I could have done with a 45 minute shorter show as I only wanted to her 4 of their songs anyway...
