These albums should get you off to a decent start if you want soundtrack-style music.  If you want a good foundation of Electronic Music in general, try the following:

The Orb - UFOrb
Kraftwerk - Computer World
Brian Eno - Music for Airports
Global Communication - 76:14
KLF - Chill Out

Try also Manuel Göttsching - E2:E4.  A ground breaking album from 1981.  


But he specifically asked for 'techno' - and mentioned the Blade soundtrack.   And even though 76:14 & KLF Chill Out are some of my favorite albums, I doubt the poster was looking for ambient   I'd steer him in the direction of Dave Clarke - his 'Archive One' album from '96 is  a classic.   Also Jeff Mills' Live At The Liquid Rooms Tokyo.  Blindin' mix.

NOTE! These are pure techno artists - as I understand the genre 'techno'.   I left out trance and lighter stuff.  These are hardcore beatmeisters  - especially Vitalic.

A good idea would be to grab the first three Orbital albums if you like soundtracky stuff.  Can't go wrong with them.
